6) Wiki of the Week:

Marvel Heroes Video Game
Marvel Heroes (originally known as Marvel Universe Online and Marvel Universe) is a MMORPG currently under development by Gazillion Entertainment, under “Secret Identity Studios”  in San Mateo California. The MMORPG will be similar to its sister game Marvel Super Hero Squad Online. Characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, Deadpool and Wolverine will serve as characters that players can unlock in the game. The lead writer of the game is Brian Michael Bendis, who has written a number of major Marvel comics.  The plot will revolve around the super villain Doctor Doom and various Marvel superheroes. An official release date of the game is yet to be announced.

Gameplay will be very similar to that of the action RPGs Diablo and Diablo II. Marvel Heroes will be free-to-play. While micro-transactions will be used to fund and support the game, players will not need to spend money to access the full game.

Players will able to choose from a large and diverse cast of Marvel superheroes. These characters range from well-known and iconic such as Iron Man and Spider-Man to lesser-known and obscure such as Squirrel Girl and Ka-Zar. Currently, only a portion of the playable characters have been announced.

2) Comic Book News

  • He-Man – In July, DC Comics is launching a brand new, six-issue He-Man and the Masters of the Universe comic, trying to attract a whole new audience to those once familiar characters while still retaining the fandom of those who already loved it. Written by James Robinson with art by Philip Tan, the comic will update the concepts behind the toys for a modern audience.   In the new comic, the evil Skeletor has already taken over the world, and Eternia’s heroes have forgotten their heroic nature. A character called the “Sorceress” awakens He-Man to his true purpose, and he embarks on a quest to restore the rest of the group.
  • Devil’s Due Publishing is planning both a return to publishing and payment of their existing debt to creators, according to a statement released by company founder Josh Blaylock.
  • Now dubbed “Devil’s Due Entertainment,” details of their publishing slate are still vague at this time, with Blaylock stating his intentions for a “small roster of high quality projects.” The Devil’s Due website lists upcoming projects including Yumiko: Curse of the Merch Girl (produced with hip-hop artist Murs), graphic novel Mercy Sparx and prose novel When the Devil’s Bills Came Due.
  • Avengers movie premiere
  • Young Justice Invasion began this week, with lots of enthusiasm and excitement.
